Shakyamuni Buddha is the name given to Prince Siddartha Gautama after his enlightenment.  He is said to be the founder of Buddhism, the historical buddha.  He is seen in the Earth-touching gesture, bhumisparsha-mudra.   This version of Shakyamuni is very old, stands 6 1/8 inches in bronze, black painted hair, and a few scratches and pits to his body.  He also has an unusual Indian appearance and a good feel, which is why we bought him.   He is not necessarily mediation quality, but excellent.
