TRISHNA JEWELRY is committed to environmental protection, and as such does not use various times that may be banned in many countries, though fine to purchase in the USA. If we have, for instance, coral items for sale, we have used reclaimed coral beads rather than buying new coral. This means that you will not often see these items on our site, and that we cannot usually do a special order on that kind of an item. We do use reclaimed beads from finds we make in antique stores and estate sales. These also cannot be special ordered.

It is difficult to have a business these days without compromising some sort of ideal, but please tell us if you are aware of a practice that goes against our principles. We make choices every day that affect the world and our business, and it ca be overwhelming, but we do what we can. We prefer to do business with Indonesia, India, and Mexico whenever possible, or the USA. Our Jewelry is pieced in the USA.

TRISHNA JEWELRY'S special project is that we are dedicated to supporting working single parents and dharma practitioners, allowing them to work from home. As our business grows this is the manner we intend to grow employees.

We send all our jewelry in plastic bags, and suggest that you store them in these bags to prevent scratching as they are laid next to other items in a jewelry box or when traveling. Sealing the bags will also help keep the various metals from tarnishing. An ultrasonic cleaner is not recommended for many stones. Clean stones in a gentle soapy water, such as an organic dishwashing liquid, diluted. Do not soak for more than a few minutes, and use the softest brush if necessary -- a mushroom brush is excellent. We sell cleaning cloths to keep your items sparkling: click here! Finally, store gemstones away from heat and sunlight, and do not wear in the shower or when swimming!

Regarding Gemstones: The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) suggests that jewelers disclose all enhancements that may have been applied to stones prior to sale. For the benefit of our customers, we ask suppliers, especially at Gem Shows, about what we are buying, and to the best of our knowledge, pass this on to our customers. The following information may help you when we use a phrase that is unknown to you. These symbols were suggested by the AGTA. We can only tell YOU what our suppliers tell us, however, and so cannot guarantee that what we say is always true.

ASBL	Assembled from multiple layers of manufactured and/or natural materials.
B	BLEACHED using chemical agents to lighten or remove color.
C	Coated on the surface to improve appearance or to add color or other special effects.
D	DYED to provide, intensify or improve color.
E	This indicates a gemstone that is routinely ENHANCED though the exact enhancements are difficult or impractical to verify.
F	Fissures filled with solidified borax or similar colorless substance (visible under 10X magnification); a result of heat enhancement.
G	Gamma/electron irradiated to alter color; may be followed by heating.
H	HEATED to cause an alteration of color, clarity or other quality.
IMIT	IMITATION PRODUCT, fabricated to imitate the appearance, but not the characteristic properties, of a natural gemstone.
N	NATURAL STONES, not known to be enhanced.
O	Intentionally filled surface cavities, usually with a colorless oil, wax, natural resin or unhardened man-made material; used in transparent or translucent gemstones to improve appearance.
R	Neutron irridiated (requires an environmental safety release from the NRC) that is combined with any other bombardment and/or heat treatment to alter a gem’s color.
S	STABILIZED using a colorless bonding agent (such as plastic); used on porous gemstones to add durability and improve appearance. Often done to Turquoise.
SYN	SYNTHETIC or man-made material which has essentially the same optical, physical and chemical properties as the naturally occurring gemstone.
U	Diffusion; chemicals used in conjunction with high temperatures to produce color and/or asterism (star-like) inclusions.
W	Impregnated with colorless wax, paraffin and/or oil; used on porous, opaque gemstones to improve appearance.

Men's length is 24-inches, no clasp, unless stated otherwise. Women's length is typically 17-18-inches, unless stated otherwise, but special orders can be made for many of the pieces in a longer length, for a restringing and/or materials addition fee. This typically runs between $10-$25, unless the stones are Lapis or some other expensive stone.
